How do i ...

Postby perry078 » Wed Feb 03, 2010 10:05 pm

Hi all,

my name is Perry from the Netherlands, and i'm new to Colors!.
I recently bought the full version on my iPod Touch and i think it's REALLY REALLY AWESOME! I enjoy others paintings so much, and especially the fact that you can watch how they were made!

But now for something else,
I sometimes see people making these effects which make object look like they are glowing. As an example: Frost Touch, by Yuri-bcn. (You can find it in the best this week) It's the picture of the hand with some sort of a magical-icey power coming out of a hand. Those 'energy waves' or something that are coming out of the hand seem to 'glow'. I really like this effect but i don't know how to make it.

I hope someone will respond and tell me how i do this.

Thanks in advance,

Perry

I assume you've never used Adobe Photoshop or Corel Painter before. Perry, if you haven't figured it out by now; here's how to do it. Use the soft brush, the brush located to the left of the hard brush at anywhere between 50-10% opacity. There ya have it. The rest is up to how much time you put into practicing your art and looking at the artwork of artists better than you. That's what I do to learn from some of the great artists using this app. Check out this link and you'll see what I mean. Also, there's an explanation of how-to create this same effect for your paintings as well. http://colors.collectingsmiles.com/details/31564-Neytiri_by_Arrjay.php DO NOT get discouraged. Arrjay has been drawing and painting for a long time. I'll post some art drawn by other artists and painted by me sometime tonight or, tomorrow. Ciao. :] PS. Scroll down to where Arrjay explains his process. Being a part of this online community in a way is better than buying the Gnomon Workshop DVDs. The training we get here is free but, the Gnomon Workshop DVDs you have to pay for. lol! Oh, and huh, you're welcome.

2: Where do you draw on? Nintendo or ipod?
3: Is your name in the forums the same as on Colors! app?

I've never used an iPod Touch or, an iPhone.

2: Where do you draw on? Nintendo or ipod?
I only use a Nintendo DS Lite.

3: Is your name in the forums the same as on Colors! app?
My sign-on name in the forums is the same as in the gallery.

4: Is it possible to see others paintings on Nintendo? Like: newest drawings, best drawing of the week and stuff like that?
Yes.

Yes. Check out this post. viewtopic.php?f=12&t=988 Look at the image I've linked to the post. It will explain much of what is needed. This is of course a work around. The next version of Colors DS will not need such a work around to view native iPod Touch and iPhone art on a Nintendo DS Lite. Leave the link on one of my paintings in the gallery and I'll check out your art.

I guess this needs some clearing.

1: Is drawing on a Nintendo better or easier then on an Ipod Touch/iPhone ?
Its a little bit different experience. Is it better? There are any great paintings created on both Iphone and DS, so it's really hard to tell.

4: Is it possible to see others paintings on Nintendo? Like: newest drawings, best drawing of the week and stuff like that?
There is no built in gallery in current version of DS Colors! It is going to be added in next version though. For now DS users use website to check up on gallery.

5: When you are on the Nintendo, can you see peoplle's artswork that come from their ipods? And from ipod check out Nintendo artsworks?
You see both DS and iPhone paintings in gallery. On the web they have icons of DS or iPhone so you can knw where they were painted on.
On i phone you can only tell if it was painted on iPhone or DS after you load image. If it takes 100% height of the canvas then it was painted on iPhone, if there are thin lines at the top and bottom then it was painted on DS.

Hope that helps.
